El Poble Espanyol de Barcelona
Poble Espanyol was built in 1929 on the occasion of the Barcelona’s World Fair. The main aim of its creators was to make an original sample of a traditional Iberian village, with the reproduction of 116 buildings, streets and squares that represent different important parts of Spain. Under the concept of ‘Art and Crafts Community’, the Poble Espanyol welcomes trades and crafts. Nowadays the village counts almost forty workshops and has several spaces devoted to art. Among them you can find the Fundació Fran Daurel, that holds a private collection of Contemporary Art with more than 300 works; and the Garden of Sculptures.

L’Aquàrium
The main draw here is the Oceanari, a giant shark-infested tank traversed via a glass tunnel. Smaller animals, such as starfish and the newly expanded collection of sea horses, are at kid’s-eye level. Upstairs is devoted to children: for pre-schoolers, Explora! has 50 knobs-and-whistles style activities such as turning a crank to see how ducks’ feet move underwater, climbing inside a deep-sea diver’s suit or crawling through a tube wave. Older children prefer Planet Aqua – a stunning, split-level circular space with Humboldt penguins, a walk inside a model sperm whale or a petting tank of skates and eagle rays.
